 Prompt Response: A conversation that changed me was one during my early teenage years.During this conversation I was told there was going to be more responsibility growing up.I learned to keep this in mind at all times.This was true as I kept growing up and I realized it more.This showed me that there is more to our lives than we expect there to be.I have seen many things differently but in a better way.

 Prompt Response:Something I believed as a child was "the happy ever after".As a child reading books with that ending let me believe that is how the real world would be.Most books ended this way with stories that I related to.This ended up being wrong in many ways because things in life do not always end the way we want to.Sometimes in our journey throughout life we will have challenges to face.We will not always get what we want and that is okay.

 Prompt Response: This conversation shows the kind of world we live in today.There are people who still make judgments based on discriminating others.This allows there to be no fairness just because of others opinions.Just because of others options there many opportunities being taken away for no reason.The people doing the discrimination do not realize how much of what they do are affecting others.If I were in Troy's position I would choose to make a difference and speak up about this problem.Another option would be to find some other place where I am wanted and not treated differently.There is no reason for someone to be treated differently just because of who they are.

 Prompt Response:A truth that made me afraid to accept was that people wont always change.Sometimes there are people in our lives that make things hard for us.We can try doing something so that they or what they do change.In the end our actions will not always be helpful as we think they may be.It really depends on the other person if they want to help themselves.I think this an issue a lot of people face with others in their lives.It may not be just with other people but with our selves as well.We can have some habits that we can not fix alone. Summary:Today in class we started talking and reading about the book "Fences" by August Wilson.

 Prompt Response:A time where I had been judged unfairly was a while ago by teachers.I was struggling with school in a bad way.I was told that I would not be able to get my grades up in time to pass.This was all they believed because my grades did not seem like they were progressing.Then I stayed dedicated to my work and was able to prove that point wrong.In a short amount of time my grades got higher than they were. Summary:Today we completed a reading assignment on common lit called "What makes good people do bad things?". Reflection:Authors can use many ways to convince readers their argument is best.The more effective ways would be to use interesting examples and extra details.

 Prompt Response: If I were someone who was not Hispanic I would have many curious questions.I would like to know how different countries made up dishes.As well with music how they all could have originated from different countries.Another thing I would question is the traditions Hispanics celebrate.Not being Hispanic would want me to learn more about how they are celebrated.Knowing more about the Hispanic culture would be very interesting.

 Prompt Response:A time I had a perspective on someone was when I saw them as the smartest person in the class.This idea came from always hearing them having good grades and finishing work on time.My perspective later changed when learning more about them.I learned that they get a lot of extra study time and help by others.This technically did not mean they were the smartest person.This does not mean they were the least smartest but it was different from what I expected.When working alone there was some struggle but with others it would be different.This allowed me to make sure to not assume too much from others. Summary:Today in class we did an assignment in common lit called 'The Danger of a Single Story" by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Reflection:Many people have different perspectives about places or others and are completely wrong about it.Once it is learned that they are wrong they learn something they often do not expect from their own ideas they already have.

Prompt Response:A time when someones word offended me was when being called lazy.This was also after a long day of school where I was just resting.This made me feel bad in a way because I knew it was not true.In response I said what I thought was true that I was not.To resolve this situation I simply asked not to be called that again.My response had allowed there to be an understanding. Summary:Today in class we went over the poem "Incident" by Countee Cullen. Reflection:The poem we went over helped us understand that some things we say could have a lasting effect.There are many terms we do not realize are offensive to others.

 Prompt Response:My favorite thing about homecoming would be the events leading up to it.I enjoy how for the week before there are many different things you can do.I like how students are able to dress up and show their creativity.This allows students to express themselves in many different ways.Something I also enjoy is the pep rally where it is something to have fun experiencing as a high school student.The school makes this a fun experience allowing students to participate. Summary:During class students presented their story map.

 Prompt Response: I enjoy doing worksheet work more than any other activity.This is something I prefer so I can learn on my own.Doing worksheets is more simple to me.Not only is it more simple but it less complicated than other types of assignments given.Doing worksheets is also more calming. Summary:We discussed over the reading read on Monday and made a list of the opposite statements. Reflect:I learned there was many different expectations between men and women.Women have more work to do then men do.

Prompt Response: An expectation that has been difficult to navigate is to always clean.It is something difficult because I feel  as if the men should have a part in it too.Even though they go to work they should know how to maintain the house.The men should not expect everything to be done for them and at least have a part in the cleaning.Even having a small part contributes somewhat to the household cleaning. Summary:Today we had read the reading titled "Why I want a wife" By Judy Brady. Reflect:From this reading we learned that it was written by a female not male.This showed me how women already know what men expect from women.

 Prompt Response:The Atlanta area has played a big role in my life because it is where I grew up.There has been many places that I have visited over the year.For the moment I do plan on staying in the area.Maybe later on in life I will move to a different state.I don't think it will be such a bad idea to stay for a while.There are still many things to do for a few years. Summary:Today in class we continued working on our story map. Reflection:A lot of people have differences in their culture growing up.There is many differences between female and male experiences.

 Prompt Response:A time that my parents expectations were challenged is throughout the school year.My parents expect me to get perfect grades.This could be challenging sometimes because school is too.It may take me some time but I will eventually get there.This is something I understand in a parents perspective but it can sometimes be stressful.I try not to get as overwhelmed with it and push my way through it. Summary:Today we listened and read "Two Kinds" By Amy Tan. Reflection:We were able to see that we have comparable moments with the child.We can see that we all have something in common.

 Prompt Response: During these 4.5 weeks it has been pretty okay so far.There are some things I find difficult but I find a way past it.Some topics are pretty easy to understand and know what we are talking about in class.There has been some assignments where I do struggle.I know that if I focus more I will be able to complete them in a good way. Summary:There was a task given to complete for 15 vocabulary words. Reflection:I was able to learn definitions of words I did not know the meaning to.One was prodigy which means someone with suprising talents.
