 Something I enjoyed during this course was reading the book The Color Purple.This book is unlike any other I have read before.The book is very detailed with many emotions and also can relate to others real life situations.The book had also made me more curious about it since there were parts that would want to keep on reading.I have connected more with poetry during the course.This is because it is something I mostly understand.Where I would need additional support is in my writing.I do think there are some areas I can work on but besides that it is not bad.

 I am not sure if giving gifts to everyone in the family is a tradition but it is something we have always done.I question it because I hear  that not all families do that.Most of the time I hear that only the kids get gifts.We have always done this to make everyone feel included.No matter how old you are you will always get a gift.This is also to make others happy because it is the holidays.It also does not matter how big or small the gift is everyone is always appreciative.

 The holidays have changed in many ways as getting older.When I was younger there no focus on anything else but the presents.As getting older I know what to expect and we also have to participate with the adults.This includes helping with cooking and cleaning around the house.I would not say this is a bad thing because I also enjoy spending time with family.Now seeing my younger cousins during Christmas it was not the same as me.To me Christmas has always been my favorite holiday because it is the holiday you participate most . Today we started watching the movie based on the book The Color Purple and compared important scenes to the book.

 A restored relationship I had was with my brother.We would always fight about the littlest things.It had got bad to the point where we stopped talking to each other.We later restored this by talking about it.This novel shapes my understanding by showing that your own family will always be there for you.At the end of every bad family relationship there will always be forgiveness.No matter how bad it gets when you need them they will be there. We began working on our Literature circle presentation.

 A song that brings back memories is "Cant Stop The Feeling' by Justin Timberlake.Me and my cousins always use to listen to it when we were younger.We all enjoyed the feeling the music gave off.It takes me back to all our memories because we always played it.During most of our hangouts we would have it playing in the background.To do day I still believe it is a very fun song to listen to.This song makes you feel young again. Today in class we read letters  81-85 and answered questions to it.

 The best gift I have received was my dog.I was gifted him at a young age and I am very grateful for him.People do not realize how much a dog can impact someones life.A dog not only teaches you so much but help you as a human as well.Someone can have difficult things going on in life and a dog will always be by your side.I will always appreciate my dog for being next to me in my hardest times. Today in class we translated letters from Celie and Nettie.

 A relationship that changed over time was between me and my brother.As we were growing up there was more arguing than you would think.I think this was caused by the age gap between us since we are seven years apart.Now since we are older it does not really happen as often.Now we usually get along and we know how to give each other space.If we were to be closer in age I do think there would be a difference.

 Something memorable I experienced over the break was spending time with family.I am most thankful for them.My family will always be there for me and I appreciate that.Friends come and go but your family will always be there.During this time we spent time with each other as much as we could.Doing the little things mattered like watching movies and eating together.
